Introduction to Taichi

This workshop is designed for both new and experienced students.
After the success of the Taichi workshops held at CAMMAC in 2023, as well as the online seminar on the Five Animal Forms, we turn to the art of Liuhebafa, a master key in Master Moy’s teaching of the internal arts.
Liuhebafa is composed of 66 ‘manoeuvers’ which are often more elaborate and physically demanding than Taichi movements. For those who are new to Liuhebafa or have learnt it “a while back”, we will provide the basics so you can more easily practise with others. Also, there will be plenty of foundation exercises to help you develop the skills to execute the movements correctly.
For the more experienced, the program includes specific flexibility and strengthening exercises, as well as methods for improving alignment and overall coordination, suited for developing the “eight harmonies” and acquiring the “eight methods.” As many have discovered, the intensity of several days dedicated to this art creates the conditions for deep inner work, both physical and spiritual.
We also invite you to participate in periods of sitting meditation every morning upon waking (靜坐 jìngzuò - sitting in quietude).
Of course, the beauty of the site also invites you to take a walk in nature, or relax by the lake between sessions.
Outline of Cost and accommodation
For the 5-day workshop (9 periods of 3 hours each), 4 nights' accommodation in a double-occupancy room, with breakfast, lunch and dinner, use of practice rooms and common areas: Program $350+ tx, Accomodation $505 CAD+tx (there are supplements for private / double room / private bathroom). To help you see what is available, you can consult the room location map on the CAMMAC website. All rooms have a washbasin, and some have a private bathroom. For the best choice of rooms, book early. If you'd like to share a room but don't know anyone else, please contact us. Write to us if you have a room requirement, otherwise we will assign a room to you on a first-come first-served basis. The beautiful CAMMAC Music Centre is located on the shores of Lake MacDonald, in the Laurentians, halfway between Montreal and Ottawa (about 1.5 hours drive). Each year the Centre welcomes amateur musicians from around the world to its programs. We are pleased that they have opened their doors to us for this week of taichi. The Centre provides meals (including vegetarian meals) and lodging, and offers an enchanting site.
